"Refuge" exhibition at Tacit Art
For many years I have been obsessed with the idea of an exhibition working as an installation, in other words it's not the individual art works that matter as much as creating a body of work that produces an atmosphere in a space that you could almost cut with a knife. I've seen it happen. Although I have to remind myself that each painting has to stand on its own merits.
In my exhibition 'Refuge' which opens at Tacit Art this Wednesday at 6:30 pm, I pay homage to Melbourne's Botanical Gardens and the therapeutic benefits of losing myself in that place. There have been many times that I have visited the Gardens for consolation from the pressures of everyday life, including losing one's job to difficulties in relationships. And the sun need not be shining to appreciate the Gardens - once I paid a visit on a still, drizzly day and the place was almost deserted. This gave me the opportunity to appreciate the almost surreal nature of some of the plants and the thought that has gone into the landscaping.
And a reminder that another MAVA member, Monika Feuerstein has her exhibition "Don't Stop The Music" opening at Tacit on the same night. Two MAVAns for the price of one - how good is that?
189 - 191 Johnston Street Collingwood

Congratulations on the exhibition @Geoff Harrison (and also@Monika Feuerstein )
