Finding Inspiration

As the holiday season comes to an end, for most of us it’s time to get inspired! And there’s no better place to find that inspiration than in our own backyard.

Start the year by taking a fresh look at what Victoria’s art scene has to offer. Nothing boosts your own creativity more than surrounding yourself with art: visit the revamped Australia’s national museum of screen culture (ACMI), enjoy the National Gallery of Victoria’s Friday Nights, or get out into our regions and see the new and improved Shepparton Art Museum or the older Ballarat Art Gallery, currently featuring Anindita Banerjee’s outstanding work. With the exhibition closing Sunday, January 23, use this week to take the opportunity to visit. Click here for more information.

Showing at ACMI, until Sunday January 23, is the "Disney: The Magic of Animation" exhibition, with ticket prices starting from $17 for children and up to $26 for adults. Click here for more information.

This week our members were invited to submit an artwork to our Smörgåsbord exhibition at the Hut Gallery, early March. The exhibition is themed around food and only $15 to submit. For more information visit the MAVA Exhibitions page. If you are not a paid member, visit the Membership Page and join now.

If none of that seems what you need to get your creative juices going, then pop down to your local gallery and immerse yourself in the neighbourhood talent that surrounds you. Go to a gallery opening. Make some new art friends. Visit the exhibition page to see when and where some of our members are exhibiting.

Whatever you decide to do, take the time to recognise you are part of a vibrant and exciting art community. You are surrounded by art lovers - now all you need to decide is how you are going to ‘wow’ them with your art this year!
