Passion

This self-portrait, "Passion," expresses the layered complexities of identity, creativity, and liberation beyond a visual snapshot. The portrait captures my gaze as direct, unguarded, and intent and framed by a hijab that grounds my presence. Paintbrushes held close to my face symbolize the tools through which I express my thoughts as an artist, and gold leaf accents scatter across the canvas: a nod to resilience and the notions of hope that light my journey.
Within the swirls and mixed textures, handwritten affirmations; “PASSION,” “Confident in my own skin,” and “My spirit is free and full of light”. This portrait challenges the superficiality of a selfie, inviting viewers to witness the power, ambition, and authenticity that exist beneath the surface.
