The Artist Within

This artwork explores a vulnerable period of my life when I was overcoming a brain tumour. After surgery I was unable to move my right leg and had to go through months of rehabilitation to be able to walk again. Created using Posca Pens, the bright and exciting colours contrast with the dark and morbid theme of this work and the emotional state I was in. At the same time I was recovering from the brain tumour I was also struggling with 'artist block'. The Artist Within depicts physical as well psychological scars and is a self portrait that I have wanted to create for a long time.
