My own biggest fan
This artwork represents the me I want & try to be, but am not successful at each & every day. I desire to be “My own biggest fan” in life but my overthinking mind derails me at every turn. I use Art as a way to quiet my thoughts and show my creativity. Depicted in this work is a fan representative of both the title and my desire to be seen but also hide away as an Artist & Designer. The lettering is purposefully flawed as I am by no means perfect but in all honesty perfection is overrated and I gave up trying to be many, many years ago. References to me personally are included in terms of my star sign (which is so me!) love of colourful fashion, the colour purple (my fave) my cherry blossom tattoo which has deeper meaning and an abundance of flowers signifying that I am still growing personally and creatively. All of the elements used in this artwork are derived from my art journey to date being painting/drawing, embroidery, fabric appliqué and or collage using my own surface designs all of which I now use combined as a mixed media approach. These have double meaning in that I too am “layered” as an individual, sometimes complicated but hopefully interesting!
