Inspired after a recent trip to Tokyo. I loved the neon lights against the velvety night sky.

Throughout Paulina's work, the interplay between observing and being observed functions as a conceptual framework. The depicted figures in this painting are captured at moment when they are being subjects of observation whilst simultaneously directing their attention towards an external stimulus.

This dual positioning highlights the asymmetry inherent in acts of looking. This scene also parallels broader patterns in contemporary society where the ubiquity of personal devices and pervasive surveillance structures produces a constant state of mutual observation.

Coral Arbor

Watercolour on paper

$760

At Divisional Rocks in Cape Hillsborough National Park stands a coral tree I visit on my morning walks.

In spring, it bursts into brilliant red flowers, while in winter its bare branches reveal beautiful heart-shaped forms.

For me, this tree has a magical, almost spiritual presence. The floating hearts, circles and luminous colours reflect the light, energy and sense of wonder I feel whenever I visit it.

Lumen, the Italian word for light, captures the spirit of this painting and my connection to this remarkable tree.

Sea Rhythm

Acrylic on paper

$650

Walking along Casuarina Beach towards Division Rocks at Cape Hillsborough National Park, I collected seaweed washed ashore and floating in the shallow water.

I was fascinated by the delicate shapes, colours and movement of the seaweed, and the way sunlight danced across the water, creating bubbles, reflections and ever-changing patterns.

Sea Rhythm captures the light, movement and gentle rhythm of the sea in a place that is very special to me.

Emergence: A new order #6

Turkish marbling art on paper

$135

This body of work explores light through the interplay of traditional Turkish Ebru (marbling), circular forms and gold-toned paper. Fluid, organic patterns meet carefully arranged geometric elements, creating a dialogue between spontaneity and structure.

The contrast between matte and reflective gold examines how light transforms surface, depth and perception. Rather than depicting light directly, the works invite an exploration of its subtle presence and its ability to reveal new relationships between material, form and space.

Glimmers in the Ordinary

Oils

$175

A glass carafe on a table, catching whatever light the room gives it. Most of what stays with us arrives the same way, without ceremony. A short conversation that lands. A quirk you notice once and never forget. A story told on the way to something else. The glimmers are small and easy to miss, and they’re the part you remember.

The painting first appeared in Bottled Up (2025), a series that began with my dad, a man who kept most things to himself, and grew into a look at how we all do it. A carafe is made to hold things. Glass can’t quite hide what’s inside, and the light gets through regardless.

Wildfire and Embers

The painting represents a fear of wildfires and embers. I found myself fleeing from a terrifying bushfire. The memory of the heat, the red-and-yellow glow of the flames, and the embers raining down on everything around me remains vivid.

This image is titled "Split Seedlings" as you can see some seed-like shapes in the work. This image was captured in a spontaneous moment from an item in my home. For this series of works I use a kaleidoscope lens to create the shapes and repeated patterns. The random mix of colours and patterns create the overall image. Where The Light Comes In

Acrylic & mixed media on paper

$650

This piece of art was hard won.  It started off very differently, based on a photo of a fire at night with firefighters and their fire-engines lit up against a black sky.  It had a mind of its own however, and eventually evolved into this abstract piece of very  dark, brooding colours, but still with a hit of fire, and then light showing a way into its complexity and drama.

Morning Light, Monet's Garden

Extruded plastic PLA filament

$350

Creating artworks using Blender and a 3D printer is my new passion. The format and inspiration for this piece is based on Australia's early impressionists who painted on 9 x 5 cigar box lids. Using 3D printed 'tiles' I have recreated a scene looking across Monet's garden lake towards his bridge. In this piece I have also employed a textural approach by using a range of tile heights to emphasize the depth of field inherent in the original scene.

One Night the moon 1

Mixed media (acrylic and collage on paper)

$600

This work explores the quiet, nocturnal dialogue between the natural world and the lunar cycle. By framing a stark, silhouetted tree against a heavily textured moon, the work captures the duel essence of the night - its profound stillness and its hidden, fibrous complexity. The image also aims to metaphorically reflect the profound and hopeful endurance of life and the cosmos, even and especially during periods of darkness or isolation.

Lynne Kells

Lumen-essence

Mixed media

$250

For me, light is not simply a visual element, an illumination; it represents the possibility of finding energy, connection and expression within experiences that can be difficult to put into words. I invite the viewer to find their own moments of light within the work.

This work explores the tension between darkness and light, concealment and atmospheric release. Deep blues and violets create a contemplative atmosphere, while flashes of orange, yellow and pink glow like light breaking through darkness, suggesting hope, resilience and moments of clarity. Vertical gestures generate ethereal movement through the surface, while accumulated colour and texture create a sense of depth and transience. Pops of metallic allude to movement to the foreground.

Holding the Light

Photo giclee on Hahnemuhle hemp paper

$350

I have lived many places in the world, but nothing has moved me like the forests of Australia--their endurance, intricate networks of communication and witnessing of time. Through my photography, I seek to give trees voice to their emotions. Light plays on their bark and I see faces, creatures, sometimes whole vivid stories, both of fear and joy, shining through. The light reveals. The camera records. The trees have spoken.

Hope

Acrylic on canvas

$1,650

A beautiful balance is struck between traditional figurative realism and Julia’s unique contemporary style with contrasting colours, impactful negative space with delicate details and layered poignant symbolism.

This piece for me shows my learnings from getting through life’s most challenging times. It’s not always about having the answers to fix things, but as long as there is a next step, then it’s possible to move forward. There is no erasing the past, no bringing the flowers back from decay, but there is learning, there is beauty, there is hope.

Original acrylic painting in orange and brown hues contrasting with a pastel blue figure kneeling with flowers. The figure is holding the decaying flowers out to the rain.

Kalpvriksha : The Tree of Life 66

Ink on khadi paper

$590

This work from ‘Kalpvriksha: The Tree of Life’ series,  channels sacred vitality through the intricate precision of traditional Mithila Kachni linework on raw khadi paper. Intertwining fine black penmanship with deliberate accents of fuchsia and green, the composition responds to Lumen as an internal, glowing life force rather than mere external light. Through rhythmic parrot and fish symbolism, unseen cosmic energy emerges into brilliant visual form as a luminous celebration of nature’s interconnectedness.

Through timeless tribal symbolism, unseen cosmic energy emerges into brilliant visual form as a luminous celebration of nature’s interconnectedness.

The painting was inspired by the approaching sunset, shown in the last of the day’s light reflected off the water and a rising moon. A serene setting with a fisherman's boat returning to the Robe, a port on South Australia’s limestone coast.

The town is on the ancestral lands of the Buandig and Ngarrindjeri peoples.  It was named after the South Australian Governor Frederick Holt Robe in 1846, continuing today as a fishing port, it has been for exporting wool and immigrants travelling to the gold fields.

Mothers’ Gift

Photography (unique state print)

$1,150

One of the gifts my mother gave me, is the luxury to be myself. My mother was a seamstress who worked long days and held multiple jobs. The work she did, never paid well. Money was tight and to purchase something like cut flowers, to simply decorate the home, was never a consideration. To save money, my mother would knit or sew clothing for us. I don't recall my mother ever creating something just to admire. Her free time was so limited, everything needed to have a functional purpose. My Mother’s goal was to provide my sister and I, a life of opportunity and choice.

This work, 'Mothers' gift', is a celebration of the life a mother gifts her child, of what my mother has gifted me. Cut flowers are purchased and photographed on 35mm film. Multiple 35mm images are layered and scanned. The resulting image is printed and pastel pencil is used in areas of the print and then varnished, with thread then sewn into the print. This work is presented as a unique state print.

Everything at once

Acrylic on canvas

$750

I paint landscapes that feel familiar without belonging to a particular place. They are shaped as much by emotion as by places I have been. I am drawn to the way landscapes can stir something we recognise without knowing exactly why. Big skies and distant horizons create a sense of openness; shifting light and soft edges leave room for ambiguity. My landscapes sit somewhere between the remembered and imagined, familiar yet elusive. My paintings are ultimately about our emotional connection to place: the places we carry with us, the ones we long for, and our search for somewhere to belong.

Erosion

Photography, timber vintage 35mm slides, shrink film and ink

$1,200

Erosion examines the relationship between memory, documentation and the limitations of personal archives. While records may preserve evidence of past experiences, they cannot guarantee continued access to their meaning. Reflecting my experience of aphantasia, the work explores the growing distance between what is recorded, what is remembered and what can be retrieved. It questions whether an archive can truly preserve a memory when the ability to revisit it remains elusive.
