I am a textile artist whose practice is grounded in tradition, nature, and the meditative rhythms of handwork. My artistic journey was shaped profoundly by my training with Threads of Life in Ubud, Bali, where I learned time‑honoured approaches to natural dyes, fibre preparation, and the cultural significance of slow, intentional making. This foundation continues to influence my work, guiding me toward processes that honour the land, the makers before me, and the materials themselves.
Working primarily with natural dyes and reclaimed fabrics, I am drawn to the quiet alchemy that occurs when cloth meets pigment. My palette emerges from plants, earth, and foraged colour, each hue carrying its own sense of place and memory. Once dyed, the fabric becomes a canvas for slow stitching, repetitive, textural, and contemplative. For me, stitching is both a creative act and a meditative practice: a way of slowing down, paying attention, and reconnecting with the tactile world.
My work is deeply inspired by my travels and years living in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Canada, as well as journeys through Indonesia, India and Africa that expanded my understanding of traditional textile cultures. The patterns, landscapes, and handmade traditions I encountered continue to surface in my work through subtle marks, layered surfaces, and organic forms.
Guided by a belief in the importance of revisiting traditional processes, I embrace slowness as an antidote to fast‑paced, disposable culture. My textiles invite viewers to notice the beauty of imperfection, the grace of repetition, and the stories held within reclaimed materials. Each piece becomes a quiet conversation between past and present, nature and maker, movement and stillness.
