Following a career as an advertising art director, Chris Bilby is an emerging visual artist with a Master of Fine Arts from RMIT University. His practice spans drawing, painting, digital printmaking, and collage, often combining these in layered compositions. A graphic sensibility runs through his work, reflecting his professional background and interest in typography and pop culture. Exploring themes of memory, transience, identity, connection, and hope, Bilby often juxtaposes figurative and abstract imagery. His most recent solo exhibition – 'The Spacious Palaces of Memory' in Suzhou, China – examined the interplay between personal and collective narratives across cultures, focusing on the use of the archive and the grid. His work is held in private collections in Australia, Asia, the USA, the UK, and Europe.
