Motifs of the land
The colours and contours depicted in this work are inspired by the hills, tracks and iconic landmarks found across the Kimberley region of Western Australia. The lines and circles, cracks, dots, dashes and squiggles, stripes and spirals, tessellations and meanders featured in this and my other artworks have all been informed by and represent abstract interpretation of the many unique shapes and patterns of the land observed in the Australian outback over the years. I regard the unique and exquisite landmarks of the Australian outback as metaphors for endurance and life.
Can be hung as a standalone work or combined with other works from the red earth series as a diptych, triptych, quadriptych, or polyptych.
