Far from the soil (garlic)

Far from the soil (garlic)

It is a shock when an object we consider relatively inert begins to act like the living organism it is. Most of us are so far separated from the process of modern mass-scale food production, that the concept of foodstuff is, mentally, fairly categorically distinct from living plants.

I find it surprising when the food in my fridge begins to act like a living plant again.
