Artist Statement

Abstract painting is for me a versatile tool to visually represent my unconscious mind, introspection, creativity, and personal association of colours to emotions and natural elements. I do so mainly by using palette knives, sponges, brushes, glitters, crushed beads, and gold/silver leaves on canvas. My paintings are usually crowded with spontaneous and at times spasmodic paint strokes, lines, contrasting shapes, paint splatters, and vivid colours which are always melding harmoniously to create an energic, uplifting yet controlled artwork.
Sometimes the painting process originates from a place of inner peace; other times, from the urge to express a more unsettled inner world. Either way, what matters to me is that the final piece expresses a balance of shapes and colours which visually represents a feeling of grounding and reconnection with my own self which I achieve through the painting process.
I believe that abstract painting is a powerful form of visual communication because not only it does activate a visceral connection between the artist and his/her own self, but it also creates a deep connection between the artist and the viewer, who can grasp and be in sync with the intended message of the painting or can interpret its hidden messages as it best suits their soul in the moment.
