Jon paints for the sheer pleasure it gives him. His paintings reveal an intensely inquisitive mind. This explains why he is painting in various media and styles. Jon is competent with watercolour, oil, acrylic, ink and pastels. His works vary between traditional to contemporary. Jon sometimes uses a minimal tonal palette and at other times paints with vibrant colours.
Jon worked as a graphic artist for two years after his graduation before he spent more than 30 years teaching art and graphics. Retired from teaching more than 15 years ago, Jon could not resist the lure of the brushes.
He has successes such as the $5000 first prize in the second Rochester Mural Festival, where he has been a finalist 4 times. He went on to win more awards with his Watercolours, Oils and Acrylics paintings, from Best in Shows to acquisitive competitions.

Jon has works in the Edward River Council Collection, the Murray River Council, Ballarat Base Hospital and St John of God Berwick Hospital Collection. He was commissioned to paint a mural for St Joseph primary school in Rochester and Veolia Education Room in Echuca, making him a muralist and fine artist. Jon’s work has been published on the cover of the Art Education magazine and has appeared in the Australian Artist magazine on various occasions.

Jon is no stranger to the Australian landscape, especially country Victoria, where his wife was born, near Echuca. His inspiration from the Rankin’s farm and the landscape from this region had seen Jon produced work that won him awards and recognition.
Jon’s work has been published on the cover of the Art Education magazine and has appeared in the Australian Artist magazine on various occasions. Jon conducts workshops both in Melbourne and regional area. He tutored Pen, Ink and Watercolour at Box Hill Art Group before he moved to Ballarat in 2019.
