Other People is a show of self-portraiture where the artist is absent. Working in collaboration with AI, Sydney uses their own parameters to generate digital other selves, which are then re-created in large scale soft acrylic portraits. In an age of increasing micro-categorisation and targeted advertising, Sydney explores how much the categories we are placed in can really tell us. Other People is about caring for the digital self/other, while deconstructing what a ‘self-portrait’ can express.
