Artist Statement

This collection of nine pieces is a deeply personal journey, a reflection of self-discovery intertwined with the quiet beauty of learning about those I love. I've always been drawn to transparency not just in form but in feeling. One of my earliest memories is of the clear brown gum that seeped from gum trees in the spring. That fascination with transparency with things that reveal more the closer you look has stayed with me ever since.
I’ve long been intrigued by something as simple as a fruit bowl. Each one tells a unique story shaped by the hands that arranged it reflecting the spirits of a household. Just as no two lives are the same, no two-fruit bowls ever carry the same story.
The number nine holds a sacred place in this body of work. It is a dedication to my firstborn twins who arrived on the 9th of May. Becoming a father changed everything it demanded sacrifice, surrender and a deeper love than I ever imagined possible. That moment the one where I first held them is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
This collection is for them. I hope these works remain silent witnesses to the love that shaped them and the journey that made me a father. I hope through this collection my kids can learn about my journey and if there was nothing left in time I hope these pieces can show them how much I love them and how Fatherhood made me look at the world differently.

WE ACKNOWLEDGE THE TRADITIONAL OWNERS OF THE LAND WHERE WE WORK AND LIVE. WE PAY OUR RESPECTS TO ELDERS PAST, PRESENT AND EMERGING AND TO ALL FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE.
