Artist Statement
In ‘Polarity’ we contrast two important facets of our personalities through contradicting styles;
One side is measured, precise and speaks to our longing for structure, order and routine, the satisfaction we get when things fit together and turn out how we envisioned them. Our geometric works are rehearsed and pre-planned to ensure a balanced composition from the beginning, from the palette down to the last line.
The other is free-flowing, spontaneous, impromptu.
We reference nature as it refuses to adhere to structure, growing as tall or as wide as it wishes. Our botanical works accentuate the importance of letting our guard down and embracing the imperfections that come with it.
